First accident I had,1972, wasn't with a power tool, but a screwdriver. Had a 1971 Harley-Davidson 350cc motorcycle. (Made in Italy) Trying to get the gas tank off. The tank was held on the by a spring that went under the frame one side and hooked on the other. I was using a screwdriver to try and pry the spring off the hook, it slipped and I stabbed myself just under my glass's. I believe my prescription glass's deflected the tip, as there was a pretty good scratch across the lens.
Second one was with a 3/4hp bench grinder. I didn't have the stops adjusted close enough to the wheel. Cleaning up a piece of steel for a target, DIDN'T put on a pair of gloves, and the wheel pulled the steel in, along with my index finger, right hand.(trigger finger) Pulled my hand out pretty quick, minus 90% of my finger nail and a bit of meat on the end of the finger. Found out that human flesh is not the same Brinell hardness as mild steel!! That was about 10 years ago. Finger and nail are pretty much back to normal. (still can't hit a damn thing when I shoot)But the one thing I didn't do was go to a doctor or emergency room, as a couple days later, developed a huge boil on the web between the thumb and finger. Went to my family doc, and she prescribed anti-biotics, politely chewed me out for not seaking treatment right away. Not sure where the line is when to see a doc or not, hopefully I won't ever have to again. gypsyman
