who makes Alaska Back Packer ammo?
« on: March 29, 2007, 11:30:38 PM »
I found some 41 mag ammo at Mt. View Sporting Goods in Anchorage. It was loaded with a heavy cast bullet so I bought the 2 packs available.  But I can't find any info on the packages as to who loads this stuff or where.  Anybody know? Its the only stuff I've seen.

Local reloaders load up some boxes of ammo and then take it to Mt. View, Gun Traders, and other shops in Anchorage.  There is no info on the box, that way you have to go back to the shop to purchase the ammo.  It prevents you going to the reloader and cutting out the middle man.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Well Sourdough that makes some business sense but I'd sure like to know what I'm dealing with a little better.  Like Ammo Smith - who sells his stuff himself - I can go to the source for more info or to reassure myself the operation is careful etc.

Seems like there should be more opportunity for accountability if there are problems.

But thanks for the info.

Anybody else?

Do they load for any other calibers?

I have seen it in .41 and .44 mag...   I have been shooting it for the last two years.  It is loaded pretty hot, puts BIG holes in things.  I have never had any problems with reliability, and have been very pleased with the results.  I too would like to know more about the source, but the truth is is that it works, and works very well.
