Valmet Twist rates
« on: March 30, 2007, 03:32:58 PM »
Can anyone provide the twist rate of the Valmet .222 and .243 rifles?  Also what are the best weight bullets to shoot through these calibers?

Thanks
Doug

The twist rate of the Valmet 412 .222 barrel is 1:14 (1 twist every 14 inches).

I found this out by using the cleaning rod and a patch.  I used a highlighter and made a mark down the rod, then I stuck the rod in the barrel until it made one revolution.  The distance the rod traveled was 12 inches,  I conducted the test several times and found the first time I was in error.
