Several of the laws in Texas are going to change on Sept. 1, no civil suites on good shootings, no need to retreat and others, waiting for the TSRA final report after the session closes.
First, when you shoot someone, you must be trying to STOP him, not kill him, saying you wanted to kill him makes it premeditated murder.
Of course, the best way to stop him is to stop his brain from working.
You are responsible for the results of your shots, so try to make sure you have a clear field of fire.
In Texas, a citizen has a civic duty to try to stop a crime in progress, is obligated to assist a peace officer, if asked to and is protected from criminal or civil action if the assistance the officer requests is not legal, as perhaps in taking the wrong person in custody.
I would really try to keep as cool a head as possible and hope to not have to shoot, but if it came to it, I would.
