Sons's 1st Turkey PIC ADDED
« on: April 02, 2007, 05:21:15 AM »
He got it with a handi homeade tracker 1. 20lb 9 1/2 inch beard

Called 2 toms in but they spooked at 60 yrds. Saw some crossing a field later in the day, got around in front of them in a plum thicket & at 40 yrds old tom went down. One very happy boy. Will post a pic if possible (time allows working late all week!! ;D

Congratulations to you both. The Tracker 1 has been taking those birds for a long time ,and will continue to do so.I think your son will be a life long Handy-holic after this. But that's a good thing.

Great job...Congrats to both you and your son.

Its a William's shorty ramp with a .250 fire sight & the rear sight off a 45-70 barrel I put a peep on. Mounted the rear sight up against the chamber & it almost acts like a peep with the square aperture

SWEEET.  Here is a link you may find interesting.

http://oneraggedhole.com/index.htm

I will be doing up the same set up as you on a 12ga 22" Mod. barrel.  It will most likely get tubed, too.  Was it hard to solder on the rear sight?  I have yet to find one of those.  I will most likely opt for the Marlin Folding rear sight and solder on the dove tail base for it.

Did not solder, used poly-choke rib adhesive works like a charm. So far it has all held up to 3in mag 2oz loads without a prob. Also have shot 3in mag slugs without a prob, did not get them sighten in yet. Turkey season came up & had too high of a front sight so put a .250 on it now have to try the slugs again & patern the turkey loads again. Sounds like a day of advil
