ruger mark II 10 inch barrel

Folks of the board, I just got a Ruger Mk II with a 10 inch barrel. The price was really great and the pistol is brand new. When I shot it at 25 yards and got 50 rounds into a space of just less than a inch this is with a 6 o'clock hold. At 50 yards with a dead center hold the groups run about 1.75 to 2.4 inches. At 100 yards with a slightly less than a 12 o'clock I can get 5 to 6 inch groups. This is with open sights and across a rest. The club I belong to tried to ban anything more than 7 inch barrels for shooting in the club matches. The banners were defeated and I am running away with the matches. Now there is a considerable effort on the behalf of some members to acquire a 10 inch barrel Ruger. Has anyone else had such results with a pistol with this barrel length? This little baby is now a prize in my small collection and I am on the look out for another one. Tryit.

I have owned a MK2 with a 10" barrel for 20 years. during winter we shoot indoor matches at the local sportsman club. Usually 30 or so shooters show up. We often swap guns to shoot a round of targets.
One guy brings a High Standard with the spacegun barrel another has a tricked out Contender.  There are several Browning Buckmarks. One guy shoots a revolver as a single shot always using the same chamber.
The Ruger with the 10" barrel is accurate but no more than the guns above. Absolutely no reason to make a maximum length 8", you do get an advantage of sight radius but also the drawback of the fact that the bullet is in the barrel longer leaving more time for operator error.
