Gasoline in a mortar?

Have seen a couple vids lately where what appears to be a zip lock baggie full of gasoline is placed on top of the projectile in a mortar.  Evidently the main purpose is to create a large fireball on firing.  Not sure exactly why, but my first reaction is WRONG.

Spot on observation my friend. Something way back in the old memory banks says there is/was some considerable danger involved. I bet I saw the same video on Youtube. Something just says "Danger Will Robinson".

They have been watching too many movies.  When was the last time you saw a TV/movie explosion that didn't have a giant fireball?

In the extreme, I've seen a few times placing 4lbs of C4 in the bottom of a 55 gallon drum (tilted at a 45 degree angle and dug in) half-full of mogas.  Right much effective - HUGE fireball.

There's a place for it - in defense of a perimeter at a base-camp in a war zone.  NOT AT HOME, NOT AT THE RANGE, NOT PLAYING AROUND.

The possibility of some vapors igniting from static electricity in such close proximity to black powder is asking for a one-line spot on the national news or nomination for the Darwin Award.

THAT sir is quite debatable!
I have been on the fringes of that field for years and SX is a dangerous field (I've lost three friends, and numerous injuries/burns) over the years.

Santa dave, Alll I was trying to say is leave that stuff alone and stick to BP! I have a a friend that does work for the studios doing SX and danger is his job not mine, I know it's dangerous and that's why I wouldn't do it and don't want too!! I want peps to be safe! and have fun
