Wet patches and acuracy

For your consideration.I swab after each shot when using sabots and T7 and have noticed that what I wet the patch with makes a great deal of difference in accuracy.For instance, T/C #13 solvent gives poor accuracy with all sabot loads.I shoot T/C Cheap Shots and Winchester .452 230gr JHP's in MMP short sabots,Windex works well with the Cheap Shots ( groups usually under 2 inches for 3 at 100) but throws the MMP/Winchesters all over the place( Water or spit gives 3 rounders under 2 1/2 inches at 100 , Windex gives  4 inch groups).If your loads dont shoot as hoped  for , perhaps a change in your swab solvent might help.FWIW

I'd never used any of the commercial products until I received a free bottle of "Butch's Black Powder Bore Shine".  This stuff really impressed me.  A slightly moistened patch between shots keeps the fouling down to nothing and I get 1 1/2" groups or better with both sabots and lead.

I never had problems like that with what i use to clean between shots. Ive only had primers make a big difference in how the groups held. I may have to shoot more sabots and try swabbing with different products and see what it does. I mainly shoot conicals.

Do you run a dry patch after the wet patch?  Shooting the CVA P/B I have not had to clean too much between shots.  Not sure how they will shoot with my new encore.

You need to condition the bore the same between shots and it needs to be the same when you fire that first shot when hunting...

For years, this is what I have done...Dampen 2-3 patches with rubbing alcohol, run down the bore, both sides...Then run a dry patch down, run a lightly oiled patch down the bore and then a dry one.

Some guns need 2, some need 3 with the alcohol to remove most of the fouling, also make sure that the patches are not wet, but damp, wring out the excess moisture or you will contaminate the powder residue in the breech plug.
