I have a 4 inch 32 mag and installed a reduced rate spring to lower the pull  weight. It worked out OK after polishing the internals because the trigger return was a bit 'slow'. This is in double action of course. I fear the pistol needs a bit more spring to truly make the trigger snap. Return on a double action revolver is as important as pull weight.. I love the little SP101 but it's trigger is a deffinite liability., I'd much rather have a J frame smith for social situations..

Well as I've said before the Ruger products are usually ay over engineered and I love the SP101 as the 32 gives the energy of a 38 spec with 6 rounds.. It just isn't good in the DA mode, which is where you need it for a defensive piece.. It's great for a woods walker but I've several of those.. Maybe further work would help but I'm pessimistic. The real problem is the design. It doesn't lend itself to a good light and snappy DA pull.
