Can you wax traps that have been painted or dipped instead of dyed?

Waxing dipped traps, can end up in a big mess.I am not sure what hot wax would do to painted traps.
I would suggest trying 1 or 2 to see what your results would be.

If you havent used traps and they didnt catch any animals , put them in a clean box or hang them up where  the wax wont  absorb any  smells that would  attract the attention of animals ( fox- yote) that you may set for next year.   Ive stored my unused wax traps in  boxes with natural  marshgrass or  grasses  from areas i trap and also a few  balsam or pine boughs and they work just fine come next trapping season.  If  you had them  in the ground and possibly picked up  bad orders from your trapping vehicle or where you have been storing them... You should  reboil and fresh wax and then store traps..... you dont have to die them.. just boil clean and then dry  traps and wax them...

Yes when you boil them the wax will come off.   When done boiling either put a hose with cold water in bottom of trap boiling container and run cold water so hot water and  and wax come off top OR let container cool sufficiently for wax  to harden and then take wax and other  hardened impurities off and then take traps out of water.  You can rinse traps with hose and let dry and then  heat up wax and rewax.  Make sure that when you wax that  you use  all wax  and no water and when  wax is hot enough that your trap comes out looking wet and not whitish ( which indicates waxs isnt hot enough)  take out and hang to cool  on line or lay on clean cardboard or some  wood or tin .
