Scope on a Buckmark......
« on: April 07, 2007, 07:43:29 AM »
The boys love their new  Buckmarks, spent yesterday afternoon shooting them along with the .357 and a box of clay pigeons with the scatterguns. The youngest said he'd like to put a scope on his. Anybody out there with a scoped Buckmark got any suggestions or do's and don'ts? How about a good holster?
"where'd you get the gun....son?"

I scoped mine several years ago, for ammo testing, but it wasn't much fun to shoot.  I just bought a $7 weaver base, a 4X Simmons pistol scope, and a set of low rings.  About $125 all told, but if I was going to do it again I'd put a 2X on it, it's a lot easier to see with than a 4X, too much magnification and obvious wobbling.  It shot well, but only from a solid benchrest.  The mount base uses the same two holes as the rear sight base, but once it's scoped, there's no holstering it, you either carry it or lay it down.  Holsters for un-scoped BuckMarks are easy to find, just match the proper barrel length to it.  And if you buy a leather holster, don't leave the gun in it, it WILL rust it.

Hope this helps.

I ordered the weaver base that replaces  the rear sight rail.
and I went cheap, I ordered a BSA 2X scope to see if I liked the idea of a scope on a hand gun.  My scores improved but I had a hard time finding a holster to take it into the field.  I replaced it with a cheap red dot and like it a lot better.  Still can not find a holster to fit the huge red dot.  So I bought a second standard buck-mark that was in the used case.
My B-day is coming up in a couple of months and the cheap Wally World red dot will be replaced with a new one.  I have not picked it yet just I want one that has multiple shaped dots.  Multiple colors would be cool too.

mcwoodduck, I put a red dot on my Ruger and was having trouble finding a holster. I did a google search and found a holster made by Bull Dog that fits. The holster was at Optic Planet .com.  The holster is a bandolier and it fit nice. You may want to look into it.
