Blackpowder Hunting Magazine O.O.B.

I'm a little ticked about this! They sent me a renewal offer around the end of December that was too good to pass up. I still had one year remaining on my old subscription - then added three more years to the renewal. Weeks later, they filed for bankruptcy and closed shop/publications.

I guess I'm out around $60 - what's remaining on my four years paid in advance.

Sorry you got stung, I'll bet you aren't alone, I'm always apprehensive about paying in advance for mag subscriptions like that, ODL and F&S are always offering great buys to extend a subscription, but for the very reason you have experienced, I won't. I subscribed to BPH for several years, but only 1yr at a time and let mine expire last year.

My subscription only had a couple months left on it and I had already decided not to renew it, so I only missed a couple issues.

And hopefully, with the quick easy access to either the "Modern" or "Traditional" side of muzzleloading, the followers of either can learn a little about the other.

Like many regular viewers (nearly 500,000 in 2006) of the HIGH PERFORMANCE MUZZLELOADING website who enjoy shooting and hunting with both the modern in-line rifles and side-hammer traditional rifles...I too thoroughly enjoy both. Since the mid 1980s, I have hunted far more with a muzzleloader of modern design, and probably will continue to do so. However, I still appreciate the lines of a fine original rifle style dating from the late 1700s and early 1800s. And hardly a season goes by that I don't make at least one or two hunts with an older-style muzzle-loaded gun.

The future of muzzleloader hunting lies with each side of this sport having at least a tolerance of the rifles, loads and sights prefered by the other. And the more of us who find enjoyment in shooting and hunting with muzzle-loaded guns of both designs, the better.

I don't expect either side to fully agree with the other...or to spend equal time on both sides of the new "MUZZLELOADING HUNTER Web Magazine". But it will be there if they should feel the need...or to satisfy a curiosity about what's happening on the other side of the muzzleloader coin.

Be sure to check out the new concept on April 1st.

I find the muzzleloading product beliefs of the Toby Bridges and Randy Wakemans' of this world to be self-centered, constantly changing  and money-driven. Take what they say/recommend with a grain of salt.

I had hunting and general shooting in mind.  Not thinking of period stuff like rendezvous.  Stuff that has both modern and traditional stuff.

 i would say back woodsman  then . while its not just muzzleloading  its a good informational read  on just about all servivel , hunting  and woods projects

I second Backwoodsman Magazine.  But I have gotten a lot of general muzzleloading information from "Muzzleloader" also.

Just a month ago I called the number listed in the Blackpowder Hunting magazine.
Spoke with a lady and inquired about my renewal I sent back in December 2006.
Received a full refund a week later.
You might try the number.
