Where to stay
« on: April 07, 2007, 02:56:37 PM »
The last two years most everybody stayed at the Cole Family Inn In Hooker. While it is not the Hilton at least it fits most of our budgets. A bed and a shower what else do we need. It does make a good gathering spot. I will probley be making reservations in a few days. Does this sound right to the rest?

Sounds like a plan , i'm gona see if i can get a room on the back side this year , with all the traffic in the big city of Hooker its tuff to sleep .  :D  :D  And as Digger said its close to the tree , all you need is a lawn chair and a cold drink .

Got my room reserved at the Cole Family Inn for Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  May decide to go out a day early and sight my guns in.  They have a shooting range at Optima lake that has a 100 and 200 yard range with a shooting bench.  It's only about 12 miles out of Hooker.  Just be sure you have a hunting license to use the range on public land.

Sorry for the late reply from your previous post.  The wildlife management area is about 8 miles south of Hooker on Highway 94.  There is a WMA sign on the left side of the road.  Just down that road is the Primitive camping area.  By primitive, I mean no water or electricity, just a place to pitch a tent or park an RV.  Go about 2 miles down the dirt road, and on top of a hill to the right is the shooting range.  Nothing fancy, but a place to sight in and do some plinking.  I dove hunt on the WMA every year and the range is a good place to waste some ammo between the morning and evening hunts.  There used to be a campground on the south end of the dam, that was run by the Corps of Engineers, but I haven't been to it in several years, so I don't know if it's still open or not.  It was about 3 miles east of Hardesty, and north off of Hwy 412.  Hope this helps, and am looking forward to meeting everyone and shooting some dogs!

Snowbelt I camped below the dam last August and there was no one around and it was all growed up like no one had been there for several years. Dano the host lives west of the road that turns off to go to Adams.   Digger

Procrastination will get you every time, I finally called the Cole Family Inn and the Inn is full up, so I may have to make alternate arrangements unless someone cancels, the lady took my name and number and said she would call if the have a cancellation, I hope she will!  :o

If someone is going to cancel their room I would appreciate hearing about it, I want to be where the action is!  :)

I was going to join the procrastinator's club, but I never got around to it!

There are some in Guymon, the Super 8 is on the edge of town closest to Hooker, it looks like that's where I'll end up.
