If you want a good rifle buy a Remington 700, if you don't mind oats that have already been through the horse then there are plenty of others to select from.

Echo!!!

Swampy go take your meds like a good little boy  ;)!   You know it's good for you.

Swampman, Talk is very cheap and I don't believe anyone has seen any proof how good and accurate your 700's are.  In fact you have never said anything to back up the talk of yours.

Everyone has a right to an opinion and the only difference between me and you is I can back my statements up with proof.  You make all these wild claims about the Rem700's but offer and probably have no proof of what you speak, hence no credibility and just cheap talk.

The voice of one who still has a queen.  Does she still let you own guns?  How about free speech?  Does she still allow that?

Oh dear swampy the record has got stuck  ::).

I carefully explained the gun laws here to you once before and if your too damned thick to understand I am not going to do it again.

The wonder is that your so full of crap that you cannot see that we only read your posts to laugh at your incredible stupidity. I stupid was an Olympic event you would with out a doubt get Gold!

Oh BTW you had better, assuming they let you out of the padded cell long enough  ;), make the most of your short deer hunting season. Unlike here where we can hunt deer all year bar Christmas Day. I did post about my successful outing and the Roe Buck I took using my 59 vintage BSA Majestic  ;D again photos of me the rifle and the Buck so you CAN SEE THE PROOF unlike your rabid diatribe of nonsense and Bull.

I just post what I believe, based on nearly 50 years of shooting & hunting with nearly every known brand and model of firearm ever made.

The surest sign that someone has lost the debate is when they start name calling.

The 798 and similar discount Mausers are nice.  They are not as accurate as a Model 700 which can be found at very reasonable prices.  I passed on a scoped .30-06 Model 700 last weekend for $280.00 out the door.

I just post what I believe, based on nearly 50 years of shooting & hunting with nearly every known brand and model of firearm ever made.

Well swampy the quote here from you just shows how stupid you really are. I can list a few makes that I have had or own and I'll wager not only have you never had one I doubt you have even heard of them  ::).

BSA Model E (came in .270, 30-06 and 303)
Swinburns patent Martini (mine was in 577/450)
Rigby (mine is a Model 1892 Mannlicher)
Musgrave
Husqvarna model 46 (Mine is a 9.3x57mm)
Vickers (mine was a Mk11 "Francotte" Martini made at Westminster London)
Medwell & Perritt ( slightly unfair as I doubt not only have you never heard of them but you would have a heart attack at the price  ::))
Sportco  (mine is a M44 target rifle butt hey made sporting (hunting) rifles too. The company was brought by Omark)
Steyr (Mine is a Model 1903)
P. Chapuis .....shot a beauty but didn't think I could afford it. should ahve taken a loan out  ::) Dbl SxS in 8x57R price was about $7000
RAF .... another Dbl this time O/U in 7x57R. A bit too French in style for me so I passed.
Ross M10 in .280 Ross despite have 1/3 of the money down on it the dealer sold it to a higher offer... Grrrrrrrrr  >:( I don't speak to him now!
Obendorf Mauser M96 Slide Bolt (mine was a 6.5x55)
Lakelander ....... Could not agree the price on this one in .308
Sabati ?
Antino Zoli ?

Hmmm I wonder if you have even seen a BSA rifle let alone owned one or shot one. Parker-Hale possibly but again unlikely.

There that's just from a few minutes thinking of what I have now and have had  ;D in the past. The last few are ones that for reasons of price and our licensing system either we could not agree the price or by the time the licence was varied to enable me to buy it it was sold. Only one maker is not main stream being a small Husband and wife team building Bespoke rifles.

So how many of those have you even heard of?

How many have you even seen?

How many of those did you get the handle?

How many did you actually get to shoot?

I'll add your answer to how many of them have you owned ................................ Zero ;)

Again you spout nowt but bull! ........................... the amazing thing is that you expect people to believe your crap  ::).

I've owned and shot most of the brands you mentioned. I've handled the rest.  They are nice old rifles and very quaint.  They are not very accurate compared to moden rifles and esp. the 700 Remington.

??? Coming from somebody that called me a novice because I posted a target that was shot by
a rifle he has been bad mouthing for 5 pages.  I then presume you admit you lost the debate?

The term novice is not name calling.  It simply means that some have not come as far as others in this hobby.

Oh dear Swampman....................................................... oh dear................... ::) in your other post you claimed to have owned all makes and models  ??? now it's most?

Chapuis and RAF are modern current production makers as are Sabati, Antiono Zoli and of course Steyr so they are not nice old rifles they are modern production rifles.. Just knew it was bull again you really have not got a clue have you  :(. Of course the Ross rifle was well known for it's inaccuracy  ::) which is why the NRA wanted to ban it from their competitions......................................................... it won to many of them and in fact in 1913 the Ross rifle and the Canadian team took most of the major prizes at the Imperial Meeting so they must have really been inaccurate  ::).

Only wish the printer would work on this damned PC as I would print your stupid claims off and show them to Colin at the Gunshop. They have stopped stocking Remington's due to the accuracy and poor quality issues. They have just taken on an agency for the Kimber Classic though he has been feeling a bit poorly and you rantings would have given him a right laugh.

Now as for this ........................................................:-

Oh now I get it talking and writing BS is a hobby? ??? and there was me thinking you just didn't know any better  :P.

You know it's actually so easy to make you show just how dumb you are it's starting to lose any appeal. Bit like shooting rats in a barrel no sport at all  :-[.

You're a liar

I guess the forum rules don't apply to you.  The fact is you don't know anything about anything.  I need an accurate rifle and that's why I choose the Remington 700.  If you want to hunt with antiques that's a hobby within itself.  They are pie plate accurate and that's good enough for deer.....oh wait you don't have deer.  You have some little 60lb whatevers.  The kill zone is smaller on the whatevers so get close and shoot carefully.

I feel sorry for you.

Swampy it's time for you to shut up on this thread. You've shown your ignorance for the entire world to see. Stop while you have a head. Clearly the liar in the argument is you saying you've owned so many firearms you don't even have a clue what they are.

You are REALLY wearing on me and my patience is wearing thin.

I don't believe a word of that - not even the accuarcy part as my .30-06 Rem M700 isn't very accurate at all.  Worst centerfire bolt gun I've owned in the accuracy department, in fact, even with Remington factory ammo.

Musgrave

I shot my first impala 30 years ago with a .308 Musgrave that I borrowed
from my uncle. 150gr PMP factory ammo. I can still remember the rush

I have only shot a couple of them and never got around to acquiring one but John's Musgrave on the 98 action was superbly accurate likewise the club member who brought a Model 90 Musgrave in .243 that shot very well too. Their target rifles had an excellent reputation I understand at Bisley and at one time Fultons were the importers. I was sorry to see their demise due to politcal Bull.
