accuracy -------sportster, Mod 60, Mod 925?
« on: April 11, 2007, 03:00:12 PM »
If I happened to have a birthday coming up and wanted to buy myself something, which one should I get?

My main concern is first shot accuracy for pest/nuisance shooting and just plinking with my son.  He has a Cricket and I need a rimfire to shoot with him.  He jumps at the noise from even my 223.

I lean toward the Versa Pack with its youth stock that I could swap to the 357 Handi for him later.

My main concern is accuracy, though.  Is a 925 more accurate that a 60?  Is the Sportster or Versa Pack more accurate?  $100 would be better than $150.

Go with the Sportster , i have 1 in 22LR and just love it , as long as i don't drive over the scope it will shoot were i point it every time . and as he gets bigger it will be a good trainer for the 357 .

  Gotta go with Stimpy here;
   There is a chance that a 925 could be slightly more accurate than the Versa-Pack, but not guaranteed. The NEFs can be very accurate and since it is something your boy could grow into..the versatility of the NEF is a strong point.
   With the  versa-Pack, you already have a .22 rifle and a shotgun...other things can be added later for bigger game..20ga both shot & slug.
   I personally, would not be afraid of certain centerfires...but I leave that to your discretion..
If you don't want the truth, don't ask me.  If you want something sugar coated...go eat a donut !  (anon)

He is five and weighs 50 pounds.  He hasn't figured out sight picture yet and just sprays and prays with a Nylon 66.  I am trying to teach him fire discipline, so to speak.  I need a rimfire that I can shoot, but will work as a stepping stone too.
