Replacement cable for Warn winch
« on: April 13, 2007, 12:34:55 PM »
I snapped the cable for my 2.5 warn winch.  Any ideas on the best place to order one.  Also, how hard are they to replace - is this something I can do or should I let the dealer do it?

they are simple to replace, just make sure you wind them tight and evenly when it goes back on.i anchor the line and let it pull the machine as i guide it on wearing heavy gloves, nice thing to get the wife to  help you with, providing she has no cause to tangle you up in the winch.
if you just broke a little off the end they make cable repair clamps that work just fine.most of the time you don,t need all 50' anyways.but warn has them on their web sight .they also make a rope type cable, nylon or kevlar, something like that,it is supposed to be real slick.good luck,oh while you are messin wiht the winch, check all your bolts, mounting and on the winch as well they have a tendancy to loosen up.i actually had the motor fall off one this winter.later, adker

Do a search for Montana Jacks if you can't fix yours.
