So what's the deal with Hornady?
« on: April 14, 2007, 08:56:15 AM »
I look on http://www.grafs.com and other places and I see that Hornady is making all kinds of hard-to-find surplus ammo. (7.5x55 Swiss, 8x56r)

Yet, when I look on their website I can find exactly ZERO information about these loads.

Anyone know what's going on, or have a source for ballistic information for these loads?

Yes.  That one is actually on their website, listed as 8x57 JS.

195 gr. at 2500fps- Not much you couldn't hunt with that.  On the downside it does carry a premium hunting ammo. price tag.

Some time ago I was researching 8x56r ammo availability and was pleasantly surprised to Hornady manufactures new boxer primed cartridges which is otherwise rare.

I have an answer!

I sent an email to Hornady asking about the ammo. I was seeing at Graf's & Sons and here's what they said they have a contract deal with Graf's.

Hornady makes the bullets and ships them to Graf's, where they are loaded. So you can only buy new Hornday component ammo. for these obscure cartridges at Graf's.

Now I'm emailing Graf's to see if they can provide ballistic information.  I'll keep you posted.
