Manual for Simmons Scope Needed
« on: April 14, 2007, 03:56:09 PM »
Hey all,
Does anyone know where I can find a manual for a Simmons Pro 50 Plus 4-12x50 A/O VRC scope, model 8820? Just bought one used, and trying to figure out all of the markings on it.
Thanks.
Don

Dang, Quick, that response took almost 2 minutes!  Must have caught you napping. :D

Thanks, I'll try that.  My need for instant gratification really hates to wait for Monday, but if that's what I have to do...

Sorry, that's the best I can do, you might search Ebay, they sell just about anything on there, including manuals!

That's just not going to work. Not only do I want it now, I want it free. ;D

Actually, I just want to know what all those little numbers on the mag ring are for, next to the letters A, E and D.  This scope has a double horizontal crosshair, and a single vertical crosshair.  Any clue?

Follow-up:

Just called Simmons.  Seems they're moving everything from Georgia to California right now, so they have no manuals available for customers. The young lady suggested I try back at the end of the month.

BTW, I tracked down some commentary on the A E D markings. The two horizontal lines are used for range finding on Antelope, Elk, or Deer; adjust your magnification until the lines bracket the chest, then read the range off the mag dial for the animal you've just ranged.  Then you can adjust the turret, which has been previously calibrated.
