458 Lott
« on: April 15, 2007, 05:23:54 AM »
Does anybody have this rifle by CZ? Are there cross bolts threw the action area? I know this 458 Lott has alot of recoil. I'm thinking of getting one. I've heard the cost is pretty reasonable also.

Mine ended up being about $830 all said an done, this was the old one with no cross bolts a few years ago.  The newer ones have two crossbolts in the stock.  I still have yet to hurt my stock though.  It's a great gun, beefy, handles the round surprisingly well.

I'm also a fan of the flip up open sights.

For the money, the 550 american is probably the best value of a 458lott on the market. 2 or 300 less than the winnies and rugers, with the same performance.

I got mine Tuesday. It is the CZ458 Lott Safari Magnum . It was a little more then your rifle was. It shoots like a pussiecat. It is one sweet rifle.

I shot a soft nose 500 gr bullet threw a 6" piece of oak with my 458 Lott at 50 yds. I thought it would be something like an elephants brain going threw the waffle bone to the brain.

Well sighted in with open sights got the bullets with in 1.5" at 100 yds. But then I put a Burris scope on 1 3/4"X5
and I put two bullets into the same hole at 100 yds.

 Has anybody got better results.

Kind of hard to do better than 2 bullets in the same hole.

Is Don Wood still going to do your Taxidermy work or are you going to have someone in Africa do it?

We are going to look into a taxidermist in Africa and we'll see how things go. You know witch is cheapest with good work.

When you look for a taxidermist in Africa get references. A buddy just got his Impala back and it looked bad.

Yes I'd want to see some of his work before I'd choose anyone.

Should I really admit it....  he was only about 15 yards, and 30 feet up...  I had to get him on the run though.

I loaded up some 350grn RN's over 75.5 grns of H4895 in the win mag case.  They are a pleasure to shoot, really light in the CZ.
