Ruger Mark 3 replacement grips?
« on: April 15, 2007, 06:19:53 PM »
I am thinking of getting a Ruger Mark 3, but there does not seem to be any replacment grips.  I checked Hogue, and Gun Parts, they only sell for the Mark 2.  My local gun shops don't carry much in the way of replacement grips.

I used to have a Mark 2 for many years and never really liked the cheap plastic factory grips that came with it, would like a rubber rap-around like my Browning Buckmark, or a nice wood set.

I could try the big gun shows once I buy the gun, but I have been homebound with a broken leg and the small summer shows with their limited product selection are all I will have to choose from when I can walk again.  It seems odd that the after market grip makers don't cater to a popular pistol like the Mark 3.

Any suggestions on a a source for better grips for the Mark 3?

Thanks.

Ruger has nice checkered, wood grips. Brownell's has nice checkered wood grips for the MK II. I modified them in about 5 minutes for the MK III with a Dremel tool.

You don't mention which model you are thinking of getting. I don't like the plastic grips either. I just picked my mark 3 hunter up yesterday and it actually came with a pretty nice set of checkered cocobolo grips.
