Question for Quick
« on: April 16, 2007, 02:45:16 PM »
Tim I was wondering if you could post the picture of your 500 with the scope mounted foward of the hammer.I am wanting to mount my scope on my 45-70 like that so I can use low rings. I was thinking about the Bushnell Banner 1.5-4.5x32mm which is if I remember right is 10.5 inches long. I think if I use the factory base I will be able to do this. So if you could post this pictue I will be very thankful. Thanks

The Banner wouldn't be a good candidate for forward mounting due to its huge power ring and ocular bell, but a 2½x shotgun scope would work.

Thanks a bunch Tim could I trouble you with two more questions. Do you know what the lenght of the scope on the 500 is and what brand is the scope. Again thanks for being so helpful.

The shotgun scope in the previous reply is a Bushnell, this one is the Simmons 8-point that's on sale at CDNN for $20, they're both less than 8" long.

Tim if you don't mind just one more question for you. Do you think the Simmons 8 point 2.5x20 will hold up to the 45-70.

I dunno, but it is a shotgun scope, I would expect it to, I haven't used mine yet,  but for $20, I wouldn't be too disappointed if it didn't and would be elated if it does work well!! ;D   MSP has two of these scopes, maybe he'll chime in.

Mine has lasted at least 200 Remington factory rounds and/or hand loaded equivalents.
