Used handi 22 hornet price.

Im fairly new to this forum, I only own one h&r which is a 223 ultra varmint that is a tack driver. There is a used 22 hornet in good condition at a local shop for 200 bucks, It has been on the rack for about a year. It has no scope, but does have a weaver base.  I dont see many used handies around,but isnt 200 bucks a little high.  Are the Handy hornets good shooters?

Yup, that's a bit high, a new one at Walmart or RR is $210-$220,  used sell for $150-$175. Talk em down a bit. Mine will do MOA 10-shot 100yd groups with handloads.

Just a quick warning......  .22 hornet is a great caliber, but if you don't handload, they cost $30.00 a box.

To me, the ejector barrels are worth a little more. I'm partial to these as I have hams for hands. The iddy biddy cases are hard for me to pinch to remove. Much easier to have it put into orbit over my shoulder.

Wow, thats great and 10 shot groups show a true average.  I have been playing with hand loads & lil gun.  Tried the Hornady 45 gr sp and have a load for that, 40 gr Speers didn't shoot real well.  I haven't been able to beat 46 gr factory Winny's but, I did match it with the Hornayd after some bullet OAL adjustments.  Next on deck is the 40 gr V Max followed by the 35 gr vmax which in factory load did shoot well and I think it may shoot better a little slower in re-load.

Took the Hornet (black & yellow) laminate stock off and my son and I refinsihed the original stock over the weekend in a darker / slight red stain with a spar urithane top coating.  Also floated / bedded the forearm & cut down the stock length of pull 1/2".  Fun little project with my 17 year old, he did 95% of the refinnishing.  I never did get the new stock (forearm) to shoot quite as well as the original.  Lock up was just not quite the same, so I went back.  Black & yellow stock may be in the classifieds.  I have fiddled with this Handi Hornet plenty and have really enjoyed it.

I would appreciate any tips that may help get 10 shot moa from the Handi Hornet.

Here is my Lee Classic Reloader I mentioned prior.  A freind made me a dipper it says 13 gr Lil Gun but it's 12.8,  I am limeted but it is fun and good value.


Here is my sweetheart Hornet.  A pre war Winchester Super Grade Model 70 Hornet with a old Redfield Widefield 4x scope.
