CZ 452 Silhouette base/rings Bushnell 4200 elite
« on: April 18, 2007, 08:19:59 AM »
Have the gun on order (CZ 452 Silhouette) and have the scope (Bushnell 4200 elite 6X24X40.  So for the hunter game what rings/ bases?  BKL's or what?  Is this a matter of preference or body structure?  I'm average size at 5'10.  Should I go full height for hunter class above the receiver?  In other words, for hunter class, what is your setup for bases and rings.  I have bought BKL for my 22 mag and they have worked great, but what exact product should I use in this case?  It's not like I can just go to the store and try it out.  Thanks.

CIG, if you have used the BKL's before and like them try them on your CZ, I have the BKl's on my 54ms and I like them.

OK I have the gun and I ordered the Brooks spring kit and a BKL 4" Bolt Action Riser  w/BDC: 004BDC .  Since I have the scope on another high power silhouette rifle w/ Leupold QR™ mounts I thought I would get a set of bases and have the BKL riser drilled and tapped for those.  Then I can use the scope on both rifles.

I will need to free float the barrel and am thinking of putting in pillars.  Can you glass bed these plastic stocks?  I've done plenty of wood ones with no problems.

There's no reason to bed that rifle.  Mine shoots nice tight groups right out of the box.  The only thing I did to it was to put the adjustable sear (available from Brownells) in to eliminate trigger creep.  I really like the BKL mounts also, but that's your call.

I decided to go another route.  I bought a B-square adjustable air rifle mount and bought signature Zee rings with extra insert kit.  Bought a Browning 8 to 24 power mil-dot scope and set it up.  I now have it setup to shoot 300 meters.  From the bench it can hit a 15X15 plate every shot, with the right ammo.  It was also a dead calm morning.  I'm sold on those Burris rings.  I was going to do the BKL mount, but they told me it would be another month and I had already waited a month, so I canceled that order.

I'm a little confused with some terms. What is BKL? I bought my CZ Sil. with CZ rings cuz I was told nothing else will fit. Would someone enlighten me.

BKL is a manufacture of bases.  Site:  http://www.bkltech.com/

Anything that will fit on an 11mm rail will work on this gun.  So, you do have some options.

This weekend I was able to turn down the B-square air rifle base 1 and half turns and now it's dead on at 100 yards.  It was way low at 2 full turns down.
