.22 Hornet Brass plated/unplated?
« on: April 22, 2007, 05:50:57 AM »
Are nickle plated brass casings less desirable for reloading than the bare brass?
The reason I'm asking is that the bare brass seem to sell for more on Ebay than the plated.
I guess this may not be isolated to .22 Hornet, as my Federal premium .35 Whelen brass is also plated.
I'm new to reloading and apologize in advance if this is a "DUH" question.
Never mind! I just found the answer in another post!

My preference is brass.... it just seems to cycle easier through my carbide reloading dies.  I do occasionally use the nickel cases, mostly for shot loads or the like.
