Just got a new Ruger all weather in 260 Rem. I've reloaded for a few different rifles for quite a few years, and have not seen the "problem" I'm having now. Most of my Load manuals call for about 2.80" OAL. I don't have a Sierra manual, so I tested the Max. OAL with a once fired case and a 120gr Sierra spt (#1720). I'm touching the lands at 2.755" consistently with 10 or so tests. I've been setting my OAL to 2.735" and developing loads with 3 different powders at this time, with some promise with two of them.
My question is this...I don't feel like having another load manual around ( I have 5 now), but if anyone out there has a Sierra load manual with the OAL for this bullet I would appreciate the info. I have ordered some Hornady and Wildcat bullets, and will probably use these in the future. I was really wondering if I have a "SHORT" throat in this rifle, or is this right for the Bullet I'm using.
