Blackhawk 45 Colt

Is there any difference i n the  Blackhawks in 45 Colt and the Blackhawk  that comes with the 45 AP cylinder too? I wouldn't think so, my concern is accuracy between the 2. I know the 45AP  probably isn't as accurate as the colt.

nope just a standard blackhawk with an acp cyl fitted to it.

Don't assume the .45 ACP isn't accurate just because it has a long freebore with the cylinder. I have several .45 Blackhawks for which I have had .45 ACP cylinders fitted. When the throat sizes match up, they can be quite accurate.
.45 colt Blackhawks have a reputation for having tight chamber throats, sometimes as tight as .450". They can be easily fixed with reaming, which also nicely takes care of most other manufacturing flaws. I looked at my .45 ACP chamber throats and they were oversize on one gun and tight on two others. The tight ones make loading lead ammo hard, so I reamed the .45 ACP cylinders as well. That usually has to be accompanied by a clean up of the barrel forcing cone. With those minor things taken care of, both the .45 Colt and .45 ACP cylinders can be very accurate.

Howdy,
I kind of wish that I'd ordered one of the convertibles, but I always hoped that my .45ACP revolver would be a S&W 25. I read an article where a guy was using his for action pistol shooting. He was carrying his extra ammo in 1911 magazines. He would shuck the empties out while moving, and thumb the new ones in straight off the top of the mags. It was really slick.
Even while just fooling around, he was competetive!

I got my Blackhawk yesterday, what a joy to shoot .........almost.........was shooting some Magtech 250 grain rounds, really nice.but .I had picked up one loose round when I left the house and it was a Corbon 300 grain that I usually shoot in my 15" 460 Encore and I didn't pay any attention when I loaded it. Man, when it went off I wasn't expecting it..........what a handful! Anyway, revolver is very accurate and with the 45ap cyl., I really like it. Was making an  empty pop can dance at 25 yards, less recoil than my 45 autos. Both colt and ap rounds are accurate. Love the gun!!!!

If you think it is good now, wait until you get it broken in.

I like using jacketed ammo to help smooth the barrel during break-in. .45 ACP mil ball is good for that.

I have a 7 ½” SS Blackhawk that just loves .45 Mil Ball. It would be fun to Ransom rest the Blackhawk and compare it to several other .45 autos and revolvers to see which is more accurate.

Mine is more accurate than my P90 and P345 and I shoot it better than my buddy's XD45 Tactical................

That's one reason I got away from heavy loaded Rugers: I got into colt SAAs and S&W 25s and didn't want the hot loaded ammo laying around. I suppose if I wanted another Ruger I could always load only long OAL rounds to the Ruger levels so they wouldn't fit the shorter cylinders of the weaker guns.
