The .35 Remington is a cartridge that performs all out of proportion to its ballistics. In the Marlin 336, it is about as close to perfect a combination as you will find. If you insist on having a .35 Whelen in a lever action, the place to start would be a BLR long action. The cost of converting the Marlin to another caliber would probably make a good down payment on one, and then you would have two guns to play with. I still regret passing up on a pre-Microgroove Marlin in .35 Remington, with half magazine, for $150 because I thought it was too much money.
