What are your thoughts on the Llama max 1

As long as it is reliable with the loads you want to use why wouldn't it make a good gun....

You will probably have a hard time finding one.

If Llama Quality has not increased from the last one I subjected myself to,
I would go with something else.. However, that was 20 years ago...
I would rank them in about the same category as the handguns from Hi-Point..
It will most likely go bang and if the person is in a small room with you,
you might just hit him.

Llama has never had a good reputation, however, I did own one several years ago that was a FAIR gun.  I agree that they are not one of the better guns.  If I were limited on funds, and looking for a concealed carry and/or home defense gun, I would look at a used gun over the Llama.  Pick up a copy of Shotgun News and check the ads there, you should be able to find one within your price range, if not look at a used pump shotgun.

Llama is no longer in business. You either have to find a used one or one that has been sitting around for years.

You might want to look at FireStorm and Bersa, which I believe to be the same gun. They are in the price range that Llama used to be, the cheapest .45ACP I'm aware of, but I know nothing about their quality. The Bersa .380s seem to have a good reputation but I haven't seen much about the .45 ACPs.

Look in the Shotgun news, Some of the Argentine surplus .45s are decent guns.

I have a Llama MiniMax in 45acp.  It is absolutely reliable with everything I put in it.  It is no tack driver for accuracy, but I did shoot a qualification for CCW with it once with no problems. 15 of 15 shots COM at 25 feet.  I can usually put all shots in the head of a silhouette at 15 feet.  Again, that is nothing to brag about, but for home defense ranges, it is more than adequate.  It is my bedside gun, albeit in a push button pistol safe.  I bought mine used about 5 years ago for under $200.  I figured I could always get my money back if I didn't like it.  I kept it.

I've had one for years.
Shot 2x/mo. in local competition. Great, never had a feed or ejection problem with factory ammo or reloads. Double taps that touch, "c" zone or better. Never came in first or last.
Carried it as a primary ccw. Used to carry Colt's, got divorced and the Llama was all I could afford at the time.
I only keep handguns that are reliable and accurate.

Did you ever have a chance to handle one of the old Steyr GB's..
They got a bad rap by a lot of folks who probably never even touched one.
18 rounds capacity, very accurate and a butter smooth trigger. Then along came Glock and
won the Military contract in their country so those great GB's never had a chance to gain much popularity. Those Steyrs are fine weapons...
