Opinions on Bisley .41 Mag Price
« on: April 26, 2007, 01:04:54 PM »
I found a Ruger Bisley .41 Mag at a local shop today. Looks to be about NRA Grade 97%- virtually unfired. No box, no papers, engraved cylinder (1980's production?), and NO cylinder ring- not even a ghost of one.
Sticker on this beauty is $239, but I know this shop to be negotiable.

What do you all think?

I'm no expert on pricing but I know that's less than the approx $305 or so I paid for a new Bisley in the 80's - mine isn't engraved.  If its that good condition and you really want it, sounds like a good deal to me.  If  you could get it for a little less sounds even better to me.  But when I find a 41 I want, I pay the price.  Good luck. I wish mine had a shorter barrel.  Also, last winter I saw a stainless Bisley hunter, w scope I think for about 500.  Was almost tempted.  It was at the Turpin Gun shop in Anchorage Ak.  They were having a sale last week if.  Doubt they'd drop as low as your opportunity.   Great price! I'd expect it to be more along the line of $400 or so.

Lloyd,
You'll question my sanity even more when I say that I told my wife I was thinking about this pistol. Why, oh why did I not just go do it without saying a word? See what happens when you you get that cursed streak of decency?
Now she says I have to sell this box of Contender barrels and scopes thats been sitting here in the computer room for 3 months, untouched. Seems I had a few leftover things from when I quit shooting 'tenders, and I just boxed 'em up and put 'em away in the basement.
Wouldn't it figure that SHE would be the one who found that box all these 5+ years later?
Now what do I hear week in and week out? (her voice) " I wish you would get rid of that crap. It's not like you even shoot those things anymore. Why ya still hangin' on to those old parts. They're not worth anything to YOU anymore." :o
So, I haven't listed these anywhere, but I've got 3 barrels and 2 scopes to sell if I want to buy that Bisley!

Talk about shooting yourself in the foot!

That's good advice!  I've found that I can get more guns that way too!

She doesn't mind guns, she just doesn't understand that a man needs lots of them.  Kinda like me not understanding why she needs 37 different purses.

Don't know if this is a good price or not, but spied a used stainless steel Ruger Bisley in .41 mag today for $430.  This guy is usually a little high priced.  I've bought a few from him over the years and he usually treats me pretty good, so I suspect the out the door price would be less.  The .41 mag has never interested me much, so I haven't kept up on them.  Does anyone know if this is a current Ruger offering, or are they out of production in this configuration?

A local gun shop has a NIB Bisley Hunter 41 mag. Closing up the shop at the end of this month, and so liquidating everything. Gun has a $585 price tag on it. If it doesn't sell soon, he might go down in price, or may just take offers?
