450 marlin
« on: April 29, 2007, 07:47:31 PM »
who likes their 450?  don't hear much about them.  I love mine.  I have a Bushnell 1.5 - 4.5 and the gun is awesome at 100 yards.  3 shots touching all day long.  shot a small buck last season at 40 ish yards.  didn't even act like it was hit.  50 or so yards later is was done.  both lungs were gone.  my thoughts are, this is the perfect big woods deer rifle.  nice and lite and plenty of power.  anyone else have one?

I don't have one but it's a "make sense" caliber.  Marlin hit the nail on the head with this one.  For those that don't reload the vaunted 45-70, Marlin allows you to get optimum performance and the 450 is the way to go.  Having said that, I've taken my share of deer with an equivalenty loaded 45-70 and am impressed with the performance.  There's nothing that walks, crawls, creeps or flies in the lower 48 that I wouldn't take on with it.

I've had mine for about two years and am crazy about it.  I have a Burris 2X7 on mine and a Cabela's laceup recoil pad and Montana sling.  Makes a real nice package for woods hunting.  I like the Bushnell 1.5X4.5 too.  I've got one of those on my .45/70 and like it just as well as the Burris.  Rev

I have a Handi 450 marlin, I love it, my friends like it too, I could also put 3 shots touching each other at 100 yards using hornady leverevolution ammo.
