Roadkilled Mink

Saturday I picked up my new boat.I traveled a secondary road on the way home.In one 18 mile stretch I count 7 road killed mink.I saw 3 roadkilled coon and one dead deer.Saw lots of Pintails and Canvasbacks on the potholes.Never even thought about a mink line through there.It's good looking coyote country too.

 Looks like next fall, you can forget about those flea buses (coyotes)for a while.It's about time you concentrated on a real furbearer  lol. Mink will be a little kinder on your back also--unless you are like me,and haul in a canoe and 400 pounds of gear.

Tom  I'm going to run a coyote line or 4 from my old truck.Cherry pick locations,check traps from the front seat.Skin them while their still warm,it's so much easier.When I was a kid I lived out on 3rd lake at Forest Lake MN.The muskrats and mink got pursued relentlessly.I must be dumb as it's hard for me to pass up $60.00 coyotes to trap $18.00 mink.There are lots more coyotes(smile)

Yotero, wise business or even hobby decision.  Have been  seeing alot of yotes around here lately which i think is unusual.  Around this time of year   the yotes keep to themselves  with the pups ect.   The hound hunters took a record amount of yotes with thier dogs during winter.   A plus on  all this is  the red fox population is up , which  hasnt been the case in past years.  Id rather skin a red fox than a yote  but yotes are worth more if not mangy.  How are the walleyes???

Rdfx It's been so windy I haven't got out on the lake yet.I bought a new Alumacraft Magnum 175 with a 75 hp Yamaha 4 stroke.Put a 24 volt Minnekota Vector 3X 80lb thrust trolling motor on the back.Got a Humminbird 787C GPS/depth finder on it.The boat sat in a dealers warehouse for 2 years.Thursday A.M. when I get off I'm going to the cabin for 8 days.Will report back on the walleye bite.Going to make up a mink bait this summer with fresh walleye fat as the base,use ground white bass and add some muskrat glands. If it doesn't work on mink I know coyotes will work it.It might be nice on crackers as a snack between sets.We had 3 days of steady 40 mph wind with gusts in the 50 mph range.It's blown every day except one in the last 2 weeks.

 Good luck with the fishing.Its been several years since I was able to wet a line.
 Wife says we better make time for a bit of worm drowning.
