Rossi 308 "Youth"
« on: April 30, 2007, 07:41:26 AM »
I went to Gander Mountain this morning and they had Rossi single shot rifles for $149+ tax of $9 so $158 OTD, had choice of 223 or one youth 308, now I am not a youth but 308 is by far my favorite round. I do not think it will be a problem as I like the shorter pull. I like the AK pull which is about the  same, I figure for that price I can go and get a 223 next week.
The man I deal with is a friend he and I retired as truck drivers. Anyhow he said that they got a notice from the head buyer that there will be a sharp increase in 223 prices due to the shortage of the round. Not a big deal as I have a five gallon bucket half full of 223 brass just thought I would pass that on.
Now this is my first Rossi SS had a 92 in 44/40 still miss it, also a 357 revolver that was very good, also miss that one. Is there any thing I need to know about the SS that is unique to Rossi?
Here is what it looks like with a scope:

I don't know of anything that is specifically unique to Rossi SS but I know many of the tricks and tips found in the FAQ section at the top of the H&R Centerfire Rifle forum apply to the Rossi as well.

Shoots fine tried it with various cast and jacketed bullets recoil was very managable and some of my loads were moderatly hot, of course I am use to steel butt plates on big military rifles and I am a little bigger than the average bear people who have known me for awhile call me "Big Frank". The accuracy was outstanding and I shot one cast load aproching 2100 fps and had no leading. As I said am very pleased and for $150 what a deal.
