economical ammo
« on: May 01, 2007, 08:10:47 AM »
:) When I was in a Wal-Mart last week I spied some .45 ACP ammo behind the counter labeled Blazer Brass.  I was familiar with CCI Blazer ammo with the aluminum cases, but sure enough, these have reloadable brass cases and jacketed round-nose bullets.  I paid less than $11 per box for a couple of boxes.  At the range, the ammo proved to be clean, accurate and definitely full-power. Next time I'm in my local Wally World, I'll see it they have any more.

Some indoor ranges will not allow Blazer ammo too be used.

That's certainly curious.  I wonder why. Maybe Blazer Brass would be acceptable, since it appears to be like any other hardball round, brass case and all.???

Let me clarify for J-Train,
Blazer BRASS .45 ammo uses reloadable BRASS cases, not aluminum alloy Berdan primed cases.
With tha price of new brass going for around $18.00/100, $10.50 a box/50 seems like a steal for ball ammo. I stocked up.

I have been using CCI Blazer Brass .45 acp for some time.A few months ago you could get at my local Wally World for less than 10 bucks. The last I bought was a little over this a couple of weeks ago. Here the store usally gets in 4 or 5 boxes at a time.I go about every 2 weeks and buy all they have. This is good ammo.Have had no problems with it alt all. Also it reloads very well also. It's a win-win situation ;D.....Rick

Blazer Brass in 230 gr FMJ is the most economical ammo for me here in AZ (NW of Phoenix). It costs about 12 dollars w/tax at Walmart..and shoots the best of all hardball ammo, with Federal American Eagle the second most accurate for me...but not the cheapest, at about mid-range in cost. My 45 is a S.A. 1911A1 Mil-Spec. I just hope this kind of pricing continues....have been slowy stocking up..... Petepaaz
