Browning BAR ShortTrac
« on: May 01, 2007, 12:19:42 PM »
Looking at buying one of these, but I see very few comments/reviews/etc. on them anywhere.  Anyone have experience with one of these?  I'm looking at a 7mm WSM model.  Thanks.

Aluminum receiver gives the rifle a strange feel to it and I wonder how it will stand up to the hammering it will receive. I personally regards the new short magnums as 'barrel-burners'. My $.02.

I have the BAR Short Trac in 7mm WSM. I really like the rifle. I have a VXIII 2.5-8 which works well with this riflel. I have shot the 140 grain Ballistic tips and they shoot OK but the rifle really likes the Trophy Bonded Bear Claws 160 grain. I am getting less then inch groups at 100 yards. Rifle has very manageable recoil. I don't really like the plastic trig. guard and floor plate but they seem to work. Nothing like being able to fire multiple rounds as quick as you need them. Shot a Cow Moose last year great placing two quick shot then the drop!
