.223 twist 1 in 10?

Just  a question.  Is it possible to have a 223 bull barrel in a 1 in 10 twist?  I have measured mine several times and  it seems like this is what it is.  I don't think I'm an inch off much less 2 inches.  The FAQ says they are 1 in 12 and 1 in 9.

Is this possible or have I measured incorrectly.

Cleaning rod, tight brush (or tight patch on a tip), Sharpie marker (or anything that will mark your cleaning rod) and a tape measure.   Insert the rod almost full length and make a mark along the rod so you can see when it turns and a mark to start with and marks at 9" 10" and 12 "

And watch the rod turn.   It's the way I have always measured and it works.

Yes, it is easy to under estimate the twist rate as 1:10 instead of 1:9 if the patch slips over the rifling a bit , but it  is also possible that it is 1:10. My 22-250 is 1:14.75 instead of the standard 1:14.

I'd guess your barrel was intended to be 1:9.

You almost have to have a rod with a bearing in the handle to get a good reading, the patch has to be very tight due to the very shallow grooves. They've only done 1:12" and 1:9" 223 barrels. Instructions are in the FAQs, a piece of tape folded over the rod works much better to let you know when the rod has rotated 180º or 360º.

VERY true.  I measured my old 1:9 fluted 223 at 1 in 10.5" a few times until I realized that the rifling was turning the plastic patch holder and unscrewing it.  Make sure there is no  section of the rod or the rod end getting unscrewed as you push it through the barrel.
