High Standard Camp Gun
« on: May 01, 2007, 05:00:59 PM »
I have an old High Standard .22LR/.22mag 9 shot double action revolver marked "Camp Gun".  I have never seen another and don't know much about them.  Does anyone have any information on these and what it may be worth.  It has both .22 and a .22 mag cylinders.  Thank you.

I have heard of High Standard, but the rare part is the DOUBLE action 22 revolver.  You don't see many of those.  Don't know that I ever have.  Maybe I am not very informed as I am fairly new to handguns, but that sounds like a KEEPER to me.  If it is in good working order and shows little wear, it would probably fetch $300-$400 on gunbroker.com.  I have tracked a few 22 revolvers lately and that seems to be what they are going for.  I am sure there must be some others here who have more info for you.  Good Luck.

In my Blue Book the Camp Gun was made from 1977-1984 in the combination of 22LR & 22 Mag. The value is about $ 270 for 100%.
My first handgun back in the 60's was a High Standard (9 shot) Sentinel in 22LR.

I was given a High Standard Sentinel recently by my in-laws. 6" barrel, about 25# trigger pull in double action. Has a few small scratches, no rust at all, and shoots good.

Had a 4" Sentinel and two Double Nines back in the day. I traded the Sentinel off, kept the two Double Nines and recently gave them to my son. They are OK handguns.

H&R made double-action .22 revolvers. I have  a top-break 999. Nothing like a nice S&W trigger, but accurate. It's a nice match for my Marlin 39---all steel and walnut.
