What makes you believe that this bullet is going out of production?  Just because Midway will no longer sell it doesn't mean Hormady is dropping production.  If it is a slow seller for Midway - and I can't imagine Midway selling a lot of these highly specialized bullets anyway - they will drop it from inventory.   It is still on Hornady's website.

Maybe my misunderstanding... but that has often been my first hint that a product change is in the works.

On the other hand, I just heard they're reverting to older styles in their lineup -- both solids and softs.  I saw the solids on their website, but no hint of the new softs.  Problem is, while there's turnover, some things are going to be in short supply.

It isn't high demand, yet Midway has had among the broadest product selection in this niche among internet reloading suppliers that I've seen.

My guess is that people who used to shoot that bullet have switched to a "Premium" bullet like a Barnes, and sales are probably down.

I tried Midway for them and was told they are no longer made. So I went to Hornady web sight and was able to get them. They are in the mail now.

They're not listed in the new Hornady catalog; just the old style soft nose.

They shoot well in my rifles -- sorry to see them go.  Penetration wise, I haven't had a chance to see what they do on live animals.  They have done very well against the logs (3' sections) we use as a part of our backstop at our club... went all the way through and stopped in the dirt.  Significant retention of weight after that exercise.
