Bass on a crappie fly

This is funny lastyear I snapped the tip off a $150 flyrod in the car door so after seeing the crappie fisherman on TV down south with the long poles I got an idea tp put a small spinning reel on the now 6" shorter flyrod and use it for crappies. I tied on a chartruese streamer and went fishing this morning at 6am.  I had the drag very loose and first cast it went off with ease by the time I fumbled with it I realized i had about a 3lb largemouth on.  Well with all the exceitment he finally got off. All I could do is laugh I have been throwing all my bass lures in recent days but no bass to be seen so I changed over to go crappie fishing and hook bass go figure.                                              BigBill

This year I just can't win???? Well at least I'm getting out in the fresh air.

Its called the "float and fly" and its deadly on winter bass.

Also maybe you need to downsize the baits you are using for bass.  I'm still throwing 1/4 and 1/8 oz. size.  Lawdog

I can't find fish on the fish finder at all anywhere it shows none. I have the new hummingbird smartcast we did see fish against the shore but small ones just to see if it works.                       BigBill
