Savage 17hmr
« on: May 08, 2007, 04:40:44 AM »
I have a Savage 17HMR and it was an ok shooter, nothing special.  It had a terrible trigger that had a lot of creep and a pull weight of 6 lbs.  I took it to a very good gunsmith who fixed the trigger set to 3lbs. breaks like glass.  This firearm is now one of my favorite shooters.  I can't believe how much difference it makes.  The cost was $ 40.00 and I couldn't be happier.    Buckfever

Mine is the full size barrel.  I had it at the range last week and I was getting 1 1/2" groups at 100yds in a 10 mph wind.  The gun shot  3" plus inch groups before that under similar conditions.  Very pleased!   Buckfever

I have a 93R17 that has the factory non-accutrigger and I'm getting 1/2" - 5/8" groups @100 with Federal Premium BT ammo. What ammo are you using? Also I have a 6-24x44 scope on mine, that might make a difference for ya too if you're using a lower power scope.

I think I have the same rifle as you do pre-accutrigger.  I have a 3-9 Bushnell banner.  Also I have just got it back and usually just shoot it in between the shots with my center fire rifles.  For this reason I need to sit down and just shoot it and I think it will be even better.  With this trigger tuned to a crisp 3lbs I really love this gun!!!
