Unfortunately, they aren't one size fits all.
Read the barrel fitting info in the FAQs, go slow and check the fit often, ask questions if you need to. I just fitted a barrel to a frame, it did the same as yours, but it had way too much head space, the headstamp of the case was recessed well below the chamber face, so I flat filed the chamber face until a sized case was flush with the chamber face, at that point it would barely lock up and there was zero clearance between the barrel and standing breech(frame), it would lock up tight on Saran wrap!! All that I had to do after that was hone the latch shelf until I had good latch engagement. Never touched the pivot.
As stated in the barrel fitting instructions, if the case is already flush to the chamber face, pivot modification is the next step. So far, I have yet to work on a barrel that the chamber face was flat, they've all been irregular, I don't know how H&R cuts them off, but they could do better!!
