Wipeout for regular cleanning
« on: May 10, 2007, 01:49:13 PM »
I typically clean my guns every 20-40 rounds, that's an average day shooting I run a couple of wet patches and a no-harm brass brush than a couple of dry patches and than I squirt some wipeout in and let it sit overnight. this is not a questions about which foaming bore cleaner, rather has anyone heard any long term draw backs to using wipeout. is it to harsh for barrels I have used it a couple times a week for about a year and have been very happy I just dont want to harm my barrels. It says it wont etch and doesnt need to be cleaned out with any other cleaner. any long time users out there I'd appreciate your input.

I've been using it regularly for about 3 yrs now, no problems. But I do find that if I want a clean bore faster, a combination of solvents gets me there quickly unless the bore is really fouled bad, but the overnight use of a foaming cleaning is definitely the easy way if you're not in  hurry.

ive been using it since the guy that invented it sent out free samples about 5 years ago. Ive never had a problem with it and have shown it to many skeptical people and they about all use it now.

I have been happy with it but after some sessions with my 300 win, I've needed a second soak. I see they offer an accelerator now but haven't tried it.  The first 2 cans I've bought have lasted me much longer than I expected.  I like that the stuff doesn't stink and seems to not have all the bad stuff of Shooters Choice or some of the other top solvents. Less trips down the barrel with a cleaning rod should protect accuracy life too.
