We need to show more sympathy for these people. They travel miles in the heat, they risk their lives crossing a border, they don't get paid enough wages, they do jobs that others won't do or are afraid to do, they live in crowded conditions among a people who speak a different language, they rarely see their families, and they face adversity all day, every day.
I'm not talking about illegal Mexicans, I'm talking about our troops.
Doesn't it seem strange that the Democrats are willing to lavish all kinds of social benefits on illegals, but don't support our troops and are now threatening to defend them (the illegals)?

There will be a vote on amnesty to the illegals, possibly next week.  Call your Senator/Congressman and express your views on an amnesty.

We need to treat them like anyone else who breaches our border. Why have a border if we don't do that?  It'll be interesting to see how this gets fixed. It's been a festering problem for over 50 years and now it appears that we are finally about to do something about it. My guess is that it will be a form of capitulation-- of giving up.

I don't understand what part of the word ILLEGAL some folks don't understand. They are not immigrants, they are invaders and should be treated as such. POWDERMAN.

One would think that after 911 our leaders would wise up and do something,  we almost had another terrorist situation (Ft. Dix),  and they are still singing the Amnesty song.  If I live to be a hundred, I will still fail to see how some idiots can be so short sighted.

   TM is correct in that the best way to stop the illegal invasion is to start JAILING... CEOs and day job bosses that hire illegals.
   No jobs for illegals..no illegals.
  If aliens wish to work here they can come across in the honest way, register as an alien-worker...and after a secure identity is established..they can work.

  Something tells me that if the illegal hiring were stopped in just that way, the honest, hard working aliens would register and follow through...
  Probably the only ones that would not register and follow the correct procedure..would be drug pushers, child molesters and terrorists...
  I don't believe we would miss them at all..!!

Nope, don't send them to jail... Confiscate their property just like with drug dealers.  Sell it off at auction.  Strip them of their citizenship and deport them to any country that will take them.  They are working to destroy our country, at least make them do it from another country...

I don't know how many of you are employers, but it is currently unlawful to knowingly hire illegals aliens.  I'm required to submit a card to Immigration and Naturalization that my employees are US citizens or resident green cards.  I am required by law to visually inspect ID's before actual employment.  I agree that any employer who hires illegals, his property should be seized and sold at auction.  The illegals should be deported and not permitted to apply for US residency or green card, ever.  The illegal, if found the second time in the US, to mandatory serve a 20 year hard labor sentence without possibility of parole and deported after serving sentence.   No visitation.  The tax dollars from US citizens by not paying for welfare, schools, medical, etc., could easily pay the cost of incarceration.  With over 6,000,000 jobs available then, the additional tax revenue from US workers, it would be easily accomplished.  Employer violations currently have the potential for jail time for hiring illegals.  They just aren't enforced.  No new laws need enacted except to confiscate the property and illegal punishment.

I am in complete agreement with you Powder.  My post was in response to the previous statements.  I think you are correct that we need to show more support and sympathy for our troops.  My response was ill timed and out of context.  It won't happen again.

We can grip, moan, and complain for the rest of the year, but if don't ACT, then we can only blame ourselves for the fate of this country.  I am one, but I make it a point to write or call my congressman/senator often to express my views on our immigration laws.  Some ask, "what good does it do."  My response, "what harm does it do, and it must be working to some degree because the laws haven't been changed YET.  

If you are truly opposed to illegal immigration, an think it is time to rid America of ALL illegal aliens, then do your part.  Call or write and let your elected officials know your feelings.  Go to NUMBERSUSA, and sign up, they will write the messages for you, and you can fax them through their operation.

If you are not willing to act, then don't complain when told to "press one for English..........."
