Which 686 is it?  I happened upon a 686+ in 4" that I bought and it has since become one of my favorite guns.  My first S&W revolver and the start of a collection.  Enjoy it!  They are great guns and a lot of fun!

Mine is just the normal 6 shooter. From what Ive read they're pretty sweet guns.

Is it locked? If so go back and demand a key. If not then don't sweat it. BTW the "key" is nothing but an allen wrench. You probably have one that will fit.

No, its not locked but i figured id better have one anyway. I thought it was an Allen wrench but its not, it has a small post in the center so it wont fit.
