Gentlemen:
Quite awhile back a friend was in Savannah, Ga., at a prop shop, getting some work done on a prop/shaft from a boat he is rebuilding. Thinking of me he asked them if they had any scrap bronze shafting laying around. They did not have any bronze, but did give him a piece of "Aquamet 19."
I asked this forum for the scoop on this metal as to workability etc. I received a number of good replies that made it very clear that I had neither the lathe, tools or "expertise" to attempt any project with this material. Since then it has been taking up space in my shop.
In the vein of spring cleaning, it should go. Therefore I am offering it to this forum. If you are interested, read on-----
The nominal specs for this piece are: 2 3/16 inches in diameter, 13 3/4 inches long and it weighs 15.5 pounds. On the original end is inscribed the following:
Aquamet 19
H.239219
L.427801290
AV-MR
The fine print:
>>> The only cost will be shipping (~17 pounds from Zip 32218--Jacksonville, FL)
>>> To "Bid" you must be registered with this forum for at least 1 year
>>> Since there may be more than one interested, I have a favorite number which you need to guess closest to, to be the "winner."
If interested, either reply to this post or PM me with your number guess before 5:00 pm EDT this coming Thursday (May 17 th)
I will PM the "winner" and request a mailing address. The shipping cost will be shown on the applied postage when you receive the package, and I will give you my mailing address to reimburse the shipping amount.
If someone is interested in, and receives, this stock---while not a formal requirement---the members of this forum will expect a report on the project it inspires---with a picture(s)---and, of course, a Goex can!!!
