Remington Sold Are You Buying?
« on: May 15, 2007, 06:52:37 PM »
So Remington is sold. Are you worried that the product line might be cut back? Are you buying? If so what?

I want a 750 carbine in 35 Whelen and a 7615 Ranch carbine. Anyone else?

MIKE.

I will buy unless something drastically changes. I tend to shoot heavy barreled varmint types and most are good sellers. The people I talked to at Cabelas and Gander said the model lineup wont change much, if at all. I dont see how that could be true though. The gentlemen at Cabelas even said that now they will offer more to see what sells and what doesnt, so maybe we should keep an eye out for several new models. This could be a testing stage that benefits the consumer(Im trying to think positive about all this).

it was bought by Ceberus Capital , or something close to that spelling .

i hope that they offer a lever action now , as well as keeping the pumps and semis. and in more cartridges.

I love my 7600, other than the trigger is alittle stiff. I'd buy another. I won this one in a raffle. It's a 270 win.

Always a Remington buyer.  Got my first grandchild coming this fall.  There's a good excuse to add a few more.

I hope you are right. I try to stay positive also but I have  Remington # 23 in the mail right now.

I think the 572, 552 and SP-10 could be in trouble. Hope I am wrong.

MIKE.

When I went to Cabelas, the people behind the Gun Counter were uninformed of the fact that Remington was sold, until I told them.  That was a good 3 weeks after it happened.

Cerberus Capital Management appears to be a performance based group.  What ever doesn't sell, will be gone.  Cerberus has also just acquired parts of Chrysler.

From what I know about Capital Managers, I would be more concerned if I were a Remington or Chrysler employee with a pension & benefits hanging in the balance.  For the Customer, this group is NOT one to be feared, Cerberus is not a Billionaire looking for gun companies to buy just to shut them down.

With Cerberus, Remington could emerge strong and competitive, like Savage did, or it could end up as a pile of smoldering ruin.

I believe Remington will survive, but will be much leaner and meaner.

Well,

I want my new Chrysler 300 M to be a Chrysler 300 RUM in woodland camo or with a hogue body.  Also I would like to body of the 300 to be Tryntye coated.  Wouldn't you like to see that at your Chrysler dealer.

I am buying-- in fact I already did. I have read that as a result of the purchase Remington will be producing an AR type rifle soon and Bushmaster will have their own branded ammo.

I've had bad luck with Remington as of late. I want to love Remington again as they are made in the USA.  I hope the quality control gets better.  We can only hope it does before they burn any more lifetime customers.   I'm afraid I've been scorched.

Big Green making an AR type? If so, add another model to my list  :D I doubt it'll match the my love affair with the Sig 556 but its possible!

Do you recall where you heard this news? I havent seen or heard anything about it....yet.

No doubt a Bushmaster with a Rem. name. I read today that Bushmaster will have a custom shop for AR's & Bolt Guns, no doubt the bolt guns will be Rems. Equipment/Car corporations have been doing this stuff for years.
