I will buy unless something drastically changes. I tend to shoot heavy barreled varmint types and most are good sellers. The people I talked to at Cabelas and Gander said the model lineup wont change much, if at all. I dont see how that could be true though. The gentlemen at Cabelas even said that now they will offer more to see what sells and what doesnt, so maybe we should keep an eye out for several new models. This could be a testing stage that benefits the consumer(Im trying to think positive about all this).
When I went to Cabelas, the people behind the Gun Counter were uninformed of the fact that Remington was sold, until I told them. That was a good 3 weeks after it happened.
Cerberus Capital Management appears to be a performance based group. What ever doesn't sell, will be gone. Cerberus has also just acquired parts of Chrysler.
From what I know about Capital Managers, I would be more concerned if I were a Remington or Chrysler employee with a pension & benefits hanging in the balance. For the Customer, this group is
NOT one to be feared, Cerberus is not a Billionaire looking for gun companies to buy just to shut them down.
With Cerberus, Remington could emerge strong and competitive, like Savage did, or it could end up as a pile of smoldering ruin.
I believe Remington will survive, but will be much leaner and meaner.
