Question for Stimpylu...
« on: May 16, 2007, 05:46:59 PM »
Some time ago you mentioned that you had a .22 mag barrel rebored to .218 Bee.

Considering the difference in twist rates..how did the accuracy work out ? does it like bullets that are 35 gr or does it like 45 grs.?

Ironglow

With the 1 in 16 twist i expected it to shoot the 35s well and it does along with the 40s , under 1" @ 100 . I tried to move up to some 50 and 55 grain bullets but was having problems with high pressure from the H110 that i was using . I have loaded some 50 , 52 and 53 grain with IMR4198 but have not had a chance to shoot them .

I think that it will be ok with the heavier bullets and the IMR powder but will have to see , alot has to do with the amount of case fill from the diffrent powders and the speed that they burn .

I have 100 of the 35s and 100 of ther 40s loaded for the P-dog shoot so this will be the true test .

Have you considered side stepping the regular hornet and going k-hornet for that little extra punch and better case life, no point sending it to the smith, for something you could buy off the rack.
