FOR LLOYD
« on: May 17, 2007, 11:59:57 PM »
I'm sure this is the wrong place to post this.... but I reckon that puppy on the bed should be asked to pose for a new picture. He can't still be that cute  ;D

When you are feeling better Lloyd you should snap a new picture of Elmer for us. I would like to see a picture of him and what he looks like these days. I bet he is a good looking Lab.

I've always liked dogs more than people. A hell of a lot more loyal and they always have time to listen to you!!!

I like you fowler. I like anyone who loves a dog as much as i love elmer. Like i posted before he is definately my best freind and other the to work goes with me ANYWHERE i go. He is the most gentle loving dog ive ever had. As far as the listening to me thing goes he coud use a little more training in that aspect though.  Hes kind of a blockhead sometimes.  But for the most part its my fault because I spoil him rotten. If there is such a thing as reincatnation i want to come back as him!!! I once saw a cute article about how dogs are so much better then people and it made the point that dogs are only on this earth for 15 years max and they dont have time to waste being hateful or arogant, they have to get the ammount of love in that we have to get in in 80 years into 15 and dont waste the time! I truely believe that.

Judging by the length of his snout in the latest compared to the pic in your avitar, he must be part Pinocchio!, (grin) Hope your new surgery goes well! jd45

funny because his father has a long nose and his mother a short. He looked like hed be a smaller short nosed dog like his ma and ended up being a big brute like his father.

Dogs (and some cats) are better than most people by a long shot.
Take care Lloyd!

Always been more of a dog person than a people's person. And they know and exploit that. I'm the guy who ends up with all the dogs around me (the furry ones!) when I visit someone's home. I'm also the guy who always goes to work with the dog snot smudges on my trousers (luckily I don't need to wear a suit too often).

Nice lab.

Wrong forum I know and a little soppy, but here goes:I talk to him when I'm lonesome like; and I'm sure he understands.  When he looks at me so attentively, and gently licks my hands; then he rubs his nose on my tailored clothes, but I never say naught thereat.  For the good Lord knows I can buy more clothes, but never a friend like that.  ~W. nice poem and truer words were never said. Some of my friends thought i was nuts when two months ago the dog swallowed somethng that got caught in his colon and required an operation and the total bills came to over 1500 dollars. The vette even asked if we would like to consider putting him down. My better half asked me afterward what would be the limit that i would have shelled out before giving up and i told her id be living in a pup tent and eating grubs if thats what i took. You cant put any more of a price on what his love is worth to me then to ask the same about one of my kids or grandkids. Hes healthier then an ox again and i could never have lived with myself if i put him down to save money then a few months later bought something as trivial as a gun.

It's tough when the kids get sick. You do what you have to do if there is a good chance of recovery and meaningful life afterword's. I mean its only money and that can be begged, borrowed, or stolen if you have too.

The reality of being a responsible pet owner is to take on the responsibly to safe guard these animals as if they were our own children. When they are sick we care for them, when the day comes that they can no longer continue on with any quality of life we must make the decision to let them have their last big sleep, and we grieve for them no less than loosing a family member.

I never understood people who would toss the dogs outback into a dog kennel that was clearly never used when you visited and pretended that there were not dog butt prints on the sofa. Even the most die hard bird hunter still has just a dog for the other 325 days a year that they are not hunting. When you come to my house if the dog is sitting on the sofa please sit somewhere else.

old elmer is comical that way to. When im home he will never sit in my chair but when i go to bed he jumps right on it and its his bed. When im not around like hunting season or like when i was in the hospital overnight he sits on it and wines. It about drives the old lady nuts. No one will ever convice me that they dont love as much as a human.

Yup gotta love a lab, they have this deep need to please you. They hunt great and are great around the family, they are trainable (had a beagle I loved as a boy but you could teach that dog a thing that didn't involve food) and they just look right. My Jane dog is getting up there in years, 11 now I think, but she is still one of the sweetest dogs I have ever been around. My Josie dog is 4 and a big goofball what I would without ether of them I hate to think.
