Range report On .223 Ultra

Had taken this gun out before and sighted it in using Black Hills ammo with 40gr Nosler Ballistic tip.  Shot comperable to my older .223 Handi, not too impressed.  Well today just for the heck of it I took some 60gr loads I load up for my TC Contender.  I was plesently surprised shoot three shot groups with all holes touching at 100 yards.  Moved to 200 yards, had a 1" group, now this is with Sierria 60 gr Hollow Point Boat Tail.  The Blackhills 40gr Noslers were all over the paper 6" spread at 200 yards. Did not think this gun was supposed to shoot anything heavier than 52grs well.  I'm impressed with these 60gr loads, I found a load for the .223 Ultra that it likes. 

For the first time I am having problems with an ejector.  I think the ejector is not catching the brass well and letting it slip back into the chamber.  Closing the gun and reopening it gets the empty out.

Depends on the load and the bullet, lots of folks here shoot the 60gr Vmax, 63gr Sierra Varminter and 64gr Win PP in their 1:12"twist .223 Handis/Ultras with excellent accuracy, just takes a little range time to find the right bullet/powder combo. ;)

Maybe the ejector needs cleaning/tuning?

That's explained in the FAQs under the ejector parts pic. Basically all you're doing is cleaning up the rough edges so they work better, you can check the latch button spring whilst you're in there. ;)

I have found the 60V-Max to shoot very well in MOST 223's with a good barrel, both fast twist & slower twist. It is one of the first bullets I try to determine if I have a good 223. The 1-14 may be a little iffy, haven't tried that.
