What is the best all around rifle caliber and type rife for big bear, moose, and caribou in Alaska?  Do you need two rifles?

No, you don't need two rifles.

If you are afraid of stuff, get a .375 mag derivative.

If you aren't afraid of stuff, get a .30-06.

If you are sitting the fence, get a .338 mag derivative.

Good answer.  I'm leaning towards .375.

GREAT Answer Corbanzo!!!  That's one of the best and shortest answers that will keep you out of most arguments.

Wish I thought of it.  Really guys I think its very good advice.

THat pretty much sums it up.  That being said anything from 06 up will do on most game.  My small gun is a 300 win and my heavy is a 375 H&H, with 9.3x62 and 45/70 in the middle.   I could probably get by with only one but what fun would that be.

When I bought my .458 lott a couple of years ago, my first intention was to get a .375RUM to have something bigger than my -06.  My LGS called his supplier, and they were all out, that is when he suggested the .458, why not go a little bigger?  My thoughts exactly, plus I had some extra cash that was eating away at my pocket, so it was necessary to get rid of it asap.   ;D

When it first got in, my family was like, "what the heck do you need that for??"

Hey, you never know when an elephant is gonna come charging down downtown Seward!!

Now I'm looking into the .338RUM for that middle gun.

corbanzo you hit it right.  I carry a .338 most of the time.  I also carry .35s a lot also.  (.35 Whelen, 350 Rem Mag).

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.
